You are a smart and sensible Mumbai Local Train commuter when you know that:
- Asking strangers at which station they intend to get off is nothing to feel shy about
- Booking a seat in advance in a Virar local is proving you are smart
- Asking for a 'fourth seat' in a first class gents compartment is a crime
- Not reaching near the door (towards your left hand side) until Andheri approaches, when you have to get off at Goregaon, is sheer stupidity
- Tying up / covering your curly / long hair will avoid commuters standing just behind you to ask you from doing so
- Checking for unclaimed baggage underneath the seats and on the racks, and being alert makes sense
- Carrying water and some biscuits / toffees might help you / fellow commuters in case of dizziness
- Noting down the helpline numbers listed in the compartments might come handy some day...
- Allowing people to alight before you board the train is the rule
- Crossing the railway tracks is equivalent to losing your life; simply watching others do so is worse
- There's nothing wrong in politely apologizing when you accidentally hurt someone
- At the end of a tiring day, while commuting back home, offering your seat to pregnant women, little children and the elderly will only make you feel better and relaxed
- Wearing deodorants prevents fellow commuters from fainting with your stink on a super-hot day
- Closing the windows / doors (between stations) when it's raining is a good idea
- Switching off the fans before alighting when you are the last person in the compartment saves electricity
- Traveling in an unoccupied first class ladies compartment alone when it's very late in the night and the second class compartment is not even crowded is not a very good idea
- There are certain timings when some ladies compartments become general compartments
Hahahaha. Very nice one!
