Thane - Vashi - Thane Ladies Special Trains!

Latest update:
New timetable has been introduced from February 2012 and ladies special train will now leave Thane station at 9.50 am: Thane Vashi Local Train Time Table 2012

Older post:

With the introduction of new train services on the Transharbour route, 2 ladies special trains are also introduced between Thane and Vashi stations. Though I still wonder if it's worth it coz when you look at the timings of these ladies special trains, you'd realise that at those timings the ladies compartments aren't very crowded in any case. Shouldn't they have introduced these at peak hours? Are these trains really a respite?

Anyways, here are the time tables of the Thane-Vashi and Vashi-Thane ladies special (Matrubhumi) trains:

Hi Anu,

To be very honest, I guess there is as such no requirement of the Ladies Special trains. the train almost goes empty.

I hope you will also accept the fact...Instead, the railway authorities can provide the first 3 coaches for ladies & the rest for Gents. As it will help to reduce the crowd with the following train after the LADIES SPECIAL

Hi Anu,
i am also agree with this. their is no need for ladies special train only 1st 3 coach enough. the train is completely empty.after then 9.52 train so much rush in this train in gents compartment. & also the ladies compartment changes why ? all most ladies coming from badlapur, ambarnath, kalyan, dombivali they will catch middle ladies or last ladies then they getting down thane at middle ladies bridge from platform no 4,5,6 they run & catch the train in 1st compartment. but after this changes that is not possible. gents catch train from any gents compartment anywhere but ladies not. even all most 90% offices reach towards vashi side ladies compartment & then they catch auto & buses early. but if this compartment in gents all bridge pack from gents & no space for ladies. why they make changes is this compartment ????????

Madam Anu,
It has been observed everyday that gents board 5.42 p.m. Panvel-Thane Ladies special train regularly creating a nuiasance. No announcement is made at all stations for ladies special and railway police is available to take action. After 3-4 stations these gents passengers stand in the door and the ladies run helter skelter to board the regular ladies compartment and travel in standing condition.Inspite of complaining regularly to so called Mahilavahini helpline at 022-22755555 no action is being taken by railway authority GRP. This problems has been brought to the notice of media also. Inspite of railway minister being a woman the railways have failed to implement the facility satisfactorily.

Thanks for sharing this Saritha. I hope other lady commuters boarding this train post their experience here and when we have some more complaints together, I can try and get this in some newspaper. Hope it helps.

I think if you request your fellow travellers to also call up and give the details to Mahilavahini helpline number as well as add their concerns here, it might help. It is my experience is that if many people have the same complaint and come together, action is taken to solve the problem.

What I can do for now is that post your concern on the facebook page of this site (http://goo.gl/WR5ep) and we can try and get more and more ladies discuss the issue. I believe it might help us in collecting data.

Hi Anu,
I had a similar experience. I boarded this train once and though the announcement at stations say it is ladies special, gents still board the train. I had trouble getting down at Airoli station. I felt like clicking their pictures and posting it with a caption "Special Ladies on Ladies Special". But later realized that we can not blame them too because time gap between trains are so long. They are anywhere between 15 to 20 minutes. I think there should be more trains introduced in this route may be one every 10 minutes.

I agree that the train timings are not set correctly for ladies special. I think the one leaving from Thane in the morning should be between 8:45 to 9:15 and one in the evening may be between 6:45 to 7:15. That's when the trains are mostly crowded.
