WR motormen, guards refuse to wear uniforms

Western Railway guards and motormen are refusing to wear uniforms. And if we think from their point of view, in a way it's justified. After all, when there are problems at stations due to train delays or rail roko, these motormen and the guards have to bear the brunt of the angry junta / protesters. In absence of railway authorities at the scene, the motormen and guards are easily identifiable and end up suffering even when they are not at fault.

Though there must be reasons why uniforms are necessary in certain professions, I think security of the personnel should be the priority. What do you think?

Recently started reading your blog. It is quite interesting. So far uniforms on motor man is concerned...I think they should have it. Take taxi drivers, bus drivers, auto drivers than why not Rail pilot..?

without understanding the reason for any acts, it is of no use blaming any body for any thing. while the guards have been provided with uniform, there fore they are expected to wear it.On the other hand motormans have not been provided with uniform because there job is not to deal with passengers. The staff who are supposed to keep public relation have only been given white uniform. Guards are supposed to wear white uniforms because of public dealing.
Also let me ask a question. will guards remove their clothes if some other Railway employees stop wearing clothes.

well, as per a mumbai mirror article, motormen too have a uniform - dark blue trousers and light blue shirts. And the question here is about security. of course, we all are aware that uniforms are meant for particular reasons and the code should be followed. what we shd be concerned abt here is the security of both guards and motormen alike. then uniforms will not be an issue at all, right? perhaps they shd be trained on how to deal / act in tough situations when a mob of protesters attack them when they are not at fault.
